The Queen of Versailles – Musical
Broadway gets a taste of high society drama and jaw-dropping luxury as The Queen of Versailles makes its highly anticipated debut at the St. James Theatre on October 8, 2025.
Adapted from the hit 2012 documentary by Lauren Greenfield, this dazzling new musical pulls back the curtain on the outrageous, opulent, and often chaotic world of Jackie Siegel, the former beauty queen-turned-billionaire-wife behind America’s most ambitious (and unfinished) mansion project: a 90,000-square-foot palace in Florida, modeled after Versailles.
A True-Life Tale of Wealth, Dreams, and Meltdown
In a world where excess knows no bounds, Jackie and David Siegel’s pursuit of the American dream becomes a real-life fable—one filled with lavish ambition, sharp satire, and moments of unexpected tenderness. The musical explores how their fortunes shift with the 2008 financial crisis, bringing themes of greed, resilience, family, and reinvention to centre stage.
Directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Arden (Parade, Once on This Island), with a score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Godspell), and a book by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone), The Queen of Versailles promises an unforgettable experience that blends Broadway spectacle with sharp cultural commentary.
The show stars Kristin Chenoweth as Jackie Siegel, in a role tailor-made for her iconic voice and commanding stage presence. Chenoweth also serves as co-producer, bringing her personal passion and powerhouse talent to this glittering production.
With soaring vocals, sharp-witted dialogue, and choreography that glitters as much as Jackie’s wardrobe, The Queen of Versailles is shaping up to be Broadway’s most glamorous—and surprising—musical of the year.
Produced by Bill Damaschke, Seaview, and Chenoweth herself, the musical explores the pursuit of the American dream through the lens of extraordinary wealth, ambition, and personal vulnerability. Set against the backdrop of the 2008 financial crisis, the story juxtaposes opulence with economic collapse, revealing the fragile foundations behind the facade of luxury.
The documentary that inspired the musical, directed by Lauren Greenfield, received critical acclaim upon its release and was named Best Documentary Director at Sundance in 2012. The musical adaptation has been in development for several years and received an industry reading in 2023 before being fast-tracked for Broadway.
Performances begin October 8, 2025. Tickets go on sale soon via Telecharge and the show’s official website.
